The Disabled Peoples' International North
America and the Caribbean (DPI NAC) established
a Regional Office in Antigua and Barbuda after
appointing Mr. Leslie A. Emanuel as its Regional
Development Officer effective June 1, 2004.
Mr. Emanuel is a native of Antigua
and Barbuda.
The DPI NAC Regional Office is the clearinghouse
for information and activity in the Region
including creating programs, workshops, seminars
and assorted training programs for the benefit
of DPI NAC National Assemblies and their
constituents.
Nestled in the rural village of Potters in the
parish of St. George's, the Office is primarily
staffed by the RDO and between January 2007 and
February 2008, Canadian International
Development Agency (CIDA) interns (Carmen H.
Hamilton and Crystal R. John respectably) as
part of an International Youth Internship
Program between CIDA and DPI that ended in 2008.
The RDO made a successful application to the US
Peace Corps Office in Antigua for a Peace Corps
Response Volunteer (PCRV), Mindy Nissenberg who
took up staff position as a Project Development
Officer starting February 25, 2008 for 6 months
and successfully applied for an extension of 1½ months.
Until funds are secured for additional staff
positions, qualified persons are invited to apply
for a voluntary position at the DPI NAC Regional
